My name is Sally Tanner (MBACP) registered and as an Integrative therapist, I incorporate a range of techniques from my training and experience to empower you to make the changes you hope for. I believe that we are all unique and therefore experience life in our own individual way. Therefore, the way I work in a non-judgemental way is to find what suits you best. My aim is to work with you and alongside you to help you achieve your goals. I do this by listening to you and asking questions to try and get a sense of what life is like for you, how you are experiencing your world. Being truly listened to without judgment can be immensely powerful.

We all talk to our friends but how often are we thinking they might be judging us or offering advice that is right for them but not for us.

As a registered member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I work within their ethical framework. This ensures your safety. I am also a certified online counsellor.

My Background

I have been a therapist for over 25 years and feel very privileged to work in this field. I feel honoured and humbled when people trust me enough to share the most painful parts of themselves. This can be a very cathartic experience a bit like taking the items out of a heavy suitcase you have been carrying around for ages.

I have held the position of lecturer in counselling with a college and subsequently owner of a successful Counselling Training organisation. I have also been head of a Community Counselling Service as well as having my own Private Practice. I am passionate about counselling and the positive effect it can have on people. I have a particular interest in Anxiety, stress and self-esteem issues.

My experience

I have worked in such diverse organisations as Woman’s Well being centres, Rape crisis centre, Physical and emotional abuse organisations, drug and alcohol halfway houses, Women’s Refuge and Health Centres as well as my Private Practice. I have run workshops on Loss and bereavement, Anger, Anxiety and Panic and Self-esteem.

I am aware of and work with issues related to prescribed psychiatric drug dependence and withdrawal i.e., anti-depressants.
